They were blessed with five children, Marilyn Robinson (Paul), Janet McDaniel (Kirk), Lee Peterson (Ellen), Ivan Peterson (Jill) and Barbara Peterson Bassett. He is survived by his wife Alice, his sister Shirley Curtis, five children, 21 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.
In November 1957, Merrill became the manager of Christensen’s Department Store in Cedar City, Utah. His family, the store, church service, and community service became the focus of his life. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served in many church callings including ward clerk, Elders Quorum President, the High Council, and High Priest group leader. Other achievements include activity in the Cedar City Lions Club, Cedar City Chamber of Commerce, the Southwest Livestock Show, and a member of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers. We are very sorry for the lost of your father and grandfather. We will always remember Merrill working accross the street from us for so many years. Also by being in the same ward family. We hope that the Lord will bless and keep your family in your time of need. Our prayers will be with you.

There were so many ties between our families that we feel the loss of a fine man, husband and father too. I am confident that Mom and Dad were there to welcome a good friend home.

I am sorry for your loss. Merill was a wonderful man. I am also sorry that I did not make the viewing or service. Unfortunately, I did not hear about them until they were over.
I wish for you and your family to have peace. You are in our prayers.
